Christ heals the man who had a legion and the woman suffering from bleeding, and raises Jairus’s daughter.

1 And they came to the other side of the lake, to the land of the Gergesenes. 2 And when He came out of the boat, immediately a man came out from the tombs to meet Him, with an unclean spirit, 3 and his dwelling place was right among the tombs. No one could bind him even with chains, 4 for he had often been bound with chains and shackles, but he had broken the chains and smashed the shackles, and no one was able to restrain him. 5 And always, night and day, in the mountains and in the tombs, he was crying out and striking himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus Christ from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. 7 He cried out with a loud voice and said, “What is there between me and You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure You by God, do not torment me,” 8 for Jesus was saying to him, “Unclean spirit, come out of this man.” 9 And He asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “My name is Legion, because we are many.” 10 The unclean spirits were pleading with Him greatly, that He would not send them out from there. 11 And there, on the slope of the mountain, a large herd of pigs was grazing. 12 And they begged Him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, so that we may enter into them.” 13 And Jesus immediately permitted them. And the unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs, and the herd, about two thousand, rushed toward the sea and was drowned in the sea. 14 And the swineherds fled and reported it in the city and in the villages. And people came to see what had happened. 15 And they came to Jesus Christ and saw the demon-possessed man, who had had the legion, sitting clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it told them what had happened to the demon-possessed man, and what had happened to the pigs. 17 And they began to beg Jesus to leave their region. 18 And as He was getting into the boat, the demon-possessed man was begging Him that he might be with Him. 19 But Jesus did not allow him, but said, “Go to your home, to your family, and tell them what the Lord did for you and how He had mercy on you.” 20 And he went and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him, and everyone was amazed. 21 And when Jesus again crossed to the other side of the lake by boat, a great crowd gathered to Him, and He was near the lakeshore. 22 and now, one of the synagogue rulers came, whose name was Jairus, and when he saw Him, he fell at His feet. 23 And he was earnestly pleading with Him and saying that his daughter was at the point of death, that Jesus should come and lay His hand on her, so that she might be healed and live. 24 And He went with him. And a great crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him. 25 And a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years. 26 She had suffered much at the hands of many doctors, had spent all she had, and had seen no benefit, but rather had become even worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she was thinking in her mind, “If I touch even His garment, I will be healed.” 29 And immediately her flow of blood dried up, and in her body she felt that she was healed of her affliction. 30 And Jesus at that very moment felt that power had gone out from Him, and turning to the crowd He said, “Who touched My garment?” 31 And the disciples said to Him, “You see that the crowd is pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” 32 Jesus was looking around to see who had done this. 33 And the woman, fearing and trembling because of what she had done in secret—for she knew what had happened to her—came and fell before Him and told Him everything exactly. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace, and be healed from your sufferings.” 35 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house and said to Jairus, “Your daughter has died. Why do you trouble the Teacher any longer?” 36 When Jesus heard what was being said, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid, only believe.” 37 And He allowed no one to go with Him except Peter, James, and his brother John. 38 And He came to the ruler of the synagogue’s house and saw a great commotion, those who were weeping and wailing. 39 And when He went in, He said to them, “Why are you in an uproar and weeping? The child is not dead, but asleep.” 40 But they were mocking Him. But He, having put everyone out, took the child’s father and mother and those who were with Him, and went in where the child was lying. 41 Jesus, taking the girl by the hand, said to her, “Talitha, koumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up.” 42 And the girl immediately got up and was walking, for she was about twelve years old. And everyone was greatly amazed. 43 Jesus strictly commanded them that no one should know about this, and said that they should give her something to eat.
