When they reached the house, they were already met by the usual scene of death: weeping, loud cries, and commotion. The true picture of human mourning stood before them. This shows that death in a family brings confusion, deep pain, and helplessness, and the presence of those wailing (in those days there were also hired mourners) shows how quickly people had accepted death as an irreversible fact.
