And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace, and be healed from your sufferings.”
These words are very sweet and full of comfort. Christ calls her “daughter.” This is a word of acceptance, love, and closeness. She is no longer a distant sick woman, but a soul who drew near by faith, upon whom the Lord looks with the tenderness of adoption. The phrase “Your faith has saved you” means that the woman came to Christ in faith and, through that faith, received His healing power. That is, the source of the healing is Christ, and faith is the means by which she came near to Jesus and received that grace. Christ attributes the healing to her faith so that it may be clear that the blessing she received was connected with her trust in the Lord. The words “Go in peace” are more than the confirmation of bodily health. They are a gift of inner peace. She is set free not only from the disease, but also from many years of shame, fear, and heaviness.
