Mark 5:6

And when he saw Jesus Christ from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.

Although that man was in extreme demonic bondage, when he saw Jesus from a distance he ran toward Him. This is an extraordinary scene. The man who could not remain at peace among people, and whom no one could bring near by the natural order, now hurries to Christ. Here the truth is seen that the Savior’s presence leaves no one indifferent. The demonic powers also recognize His superiority and tremble before Him. His worship should be understood as a compelled acknowledgment of Christ’s authority. It was not yet the rest of saving faith, but it already revealed who it was that stood before him. When Jesus is near, the kingdom of evil cannot remain unresponsive. Light forces darkness to react. This verse also reminds us that many times a person may seem completely lost, but one manifestation of the Lord is enough for him to be wholly transformed.
