Mark 5:37

And He allowed no one to go with Him except Peter, James, and his brother John.

Christ chooses three disciples—Peter, James, and John—so that they may be witnesses of this miracle. He often set these three apart at moments when they needed to see certain special manifestations of His glory or ministry. This, on the one hand, shows divine wisdom. He is not guided by the crowd’s curiosity, but acts in a sacred order. He also limits the number of people in order to avoid unnecessary noise and displays of unbelief. On the other hand, this choice prepares future witnesses who will surely testify about His power. Here there is also a hidden lesson: certain works of God are given not to everyone immediately, but to those who walk more closely with the Lord.
