The parable of the ten virgins and the talents. The description of the final judgment.

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.” 2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 The foolish took their lamps, but they did not take oil with them. 4 But the wise ones took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 And when the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight there was a cry: “Look, the bridegroom is coming. get up and go out to meet him.” 7 Then all those virgins woke up and put their lamps in order. 8 The foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.” 9 But the wise ones answered and said, “No, lest it not be enough for both us and you. rather, go to the sellers and buy for yourselves.” 10 While they went to buy, the bridegroom came. Those who were ready went in with him into the wedding hall, and the door was shut. 11 Then the other virgins also came and said, “Lord, Lord, open for us.” 12 He answered and said, “Truly I tell you, I do not know you.” 13 Stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour. 14 As a man was going to a foreign country, he called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one talent, to each according to his ability, and he set out on a journey. 16 The one who had received five talents put them to work and gained five more talents. 17 In the same way, the one who had received two talents gained two more talents. 18 But the one who had received one talent went away, dug in the ground, and buried his lord’s silver. 19 And after a long time the master of those servants returned and demanded an account from them. 20 The one who had received five talents came and brought five more talents, and said, “Lord, you gave me five talents. Now look, with them I have gained five more talents.” 21 The Lord said to him: “Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in this little, I will appoint you over much. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” 22 Then the one who had received two talents also came and said, “Lord, you gave me two talents. look, I have gained two more talents with them.” 23 The Lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in that little, I will appoint you over much. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” 24 Then the one who had received one talent also came and said, “Lord, I knew that you are a harsh man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering from where you did not scatter seed.” 25 I was afraid, so I went and hid this talent of yours in the ground. Now, here is what is yours, for you.” 26 But his master answered and said to him: “Wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather from where I have not scattered seed.” 27 So you should at least have deposited my money with the money changers, so that when I returned I could have demanded what was mine with interest. 28 So then, take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has, it will be given, and it will be increased, but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And throw this worthless servant out into the outer darkness. There there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.” 31 And when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 And all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will set the sheep on his right side, and the goats on the left side. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, 35 for I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you gave me water to drink. I was a stranger, and you welcomed me as a guest, 36 I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.” 37 Then the righteous will answer him and say, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you water? 38 When did we see you as a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you, 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” 40 And the King will answer and say to them, “Truly I tell you, since you did it to one of these least brothers of mine, you did it to me.” 41 Then he will also say to those on his left: “You who are cursed, go away from me into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry, and you did not feed me. I was thirsty, and you did not give me water to drink, 43 I was a stranger, and you did not welcome me, I was naked, and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison, and you did not visit me.” 44 Then they too will answer and say, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not serve you?” 45 Then he will answer them and say, “Truly I tell you, since you did not do it for one of these least brothers of mine, you did not do it for me either”. 46 They will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
