The Lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in that little, I will appoint you over much. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
This statement literally repeats the answer the master had said to the servant who received five talents, emphasizing that God’s standard of evaluation is the same for everyone. The master does not distinguish them by the greatness of the result, but by faithfulness. This shows the deep meaning of divine justice: equal reward for all who have served according to the measure of their ability. The phrase “You were faithful over a few things” reminds us that even the smallest trust, carried out with righteousness and from the heart, has eternal value in God’s eyes. And the words “Enter into the joy of your Lord” again open up that blessed state in which a person is no longer a servant, but shares in the Lord’s joy, in his love and peace.
