The resurrection of Jesus, His appearing again, and His ascension.

⬅ Back
1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought fragrant oils, so that they might come and anoint the body of Jesus. 2 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, as the sun was rising, they came to the tomb. 3 And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll the stone away for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4 For it was very large, but they looked and saw that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb. 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white garment, and they were terrified. 6 He said to them, “Do not be terrified. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Look, the place where they laid Him.” 7 But go, tell His disciples and Peter that, now, He is going before you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.” 8 When they heard this, they went out and fled from the tomb, because trembling and astonishment had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. 9 And rising early in the morning on the first day of the week, Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. 10 Mary went and told those who had been with Jesus, while they were mourning and weeping. 11 They, hearing that He is alive and had appeared to Mary, did not believe. 12 After that, Jesus appeared in another form to two of them as they were going to the countryside. 13 They too went and told the others, but they did not believe them either. 14 Afterward Jesus appeared to the eleven as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those to whom He had appeared after rising from the dead. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in tongues, 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” 19 And He Himself, the Lord Jesus, after speaking with the disciples, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the Father’s right hand. 20 And they went out and preached the Gospel everywhere in the whole world. The Lord was leading them and confirming their preaching with miracles. Amen.
