Mark 16:20

And they went out and preached the Gospel everywhere in the whole world. The Lord was leading them and confirming their preaching with miracles. Amen.

The final verse shows that the disciples obeyed the Lord’s command. They went out and preached everywhere. They were no longer people sitting shut in, afraid, and in unbelief, but witnesses of the resurrection. Yet the true source of their success was not their own strength, but the Lord’s cooperation. The ascended Christ is seated in heaven at the right hand of God, yet at the same time He works with His church through His word and the Holy Spirit. The signs confirmed the preached word and testified that the Gospel is from God. Thus the Gospel of Mark ends not with the silence of the tomb, but with the living work of the risen and ascended Lord. Christ died, rose again, ascended, and continues to confirm His word until the Gospel reaches all whom God calls to salvation. Amen:
