And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll the stone away for us from the entrance of the tomb?”
The women were concerned about an obstacle that was beyond their strength. The stone of the tomb was a real and heavy problem for them. They loved the Lord, but they did not know how they would reach their goal. This is also one of the trials often found in the believer’s life: love drives a person toward obedience, but along the way he sees stones that he cannot roll away by himself. Yet they, despite their anxiety, do not stop going. This is an important lesson: when our duty is clear, we must go forward, and leave the obstacles that seem unsolvable to God’s providence. The Lord often removes beforehand the very stone that we worry about on the way.
