Christ forbids foolish judging. The parable of the man who builds his house on the rock.

1 Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. 2 For with the judgment you judge, you will also be judged, and with the measure you measure, it will also be measured to you. 3 And why do you see the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the beam in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' while there is a log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite, first remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see how to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. 6 Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, so that they do not trample them underfoot and then turn and tear you to pieces. 7 Ask, and it will be given to you. seek, and you will find. knock on the door, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks the door will be opened. 9 Or who among you is the man who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone, 10 And if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake? 11 So if you, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him. 12 So then, whatever you want people to do for you, do the same for them, because this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets. 13 Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and many are going on that road. 14 How narrow is that gate, and hard to pass is the road that leads to life. Few are those who find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Do people gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17 So also every good tree bears good fruit, and the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, you will recognize them by their fruits. 21 Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ 23 And then I will say to them plainly, “I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawless ones.” 24 Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and does them, I will compare him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came, the rivers flooded, the winds blew and struck that house, but it did not collapse, because it was founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine but does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain came, the rivers flooded, the winds blew and struck the house, and it collapsed, and its collapse was great. 28 And when Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 for he was teaching them like one who has authority, and not like the scribes.
