Matthew 7:6

Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, so that they do not trample them underfoot and then turn and tear you to pieces.

In this passage Jesus uses the metaphors of “dogs” and “pigs” to show that some people do not value spiritual treasures or important truths. The expressions “holy thing” and “pearls” symbolize precious and sacred things, such as God’s truths or spiritual teachings. Jesus urges us to approach the sharing of spiritual knowledge or values with caution and discernment. If such sacred thoughts or ideas are given to people who do not appreciate them or are not ready to receive them, they may reject them, disregard them, or even attack those who pass on these values. Jesus calls us to share spiritual knowledge with wisdom and spiritual sensitivity, so that it is not dishonored or devalued.
