Christ cleanses the leper, heals the centurion’s servant and Peter’s mother-in-law. The Gadarenes.

1 When Jesus came down from the mountain, a great crowd followed him. 2 and now, a leper came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you can cleanse me.” 3 And Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I am willing. be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him: “Be careful not to tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest, and present the offering commanded by Moses, as a testimony to them.” 5 And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him and was pleading with Him. 6 And he was saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home and is suffering greatly.” 7 Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 And the centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy for you to come under my roof, but only say a word, and my servant will be healed.” 9 For I too am a man under authority, and I have soldiers under my command. I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it. 10 When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who were following him, “Truly I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 11 And I tell you that many will come from the east and the west and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go, and let it be for you just as you believed.” And his servant was healed at that moment. 14 And Jesus came to Peter’s house and saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. 15 Jesus took her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve them. 16 When evening came, they brought to Jesus many who were demon-possessed, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 So that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, who says: “He took up our sicknesses and bore our pains.” 18 And when Jesus saw a great crowd around him, he gave orders to go to the other side. 19 And a scribe came up to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 Jesus also said to him, “Foxes have dens, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 21 One of his disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me to go and first bury my father.” 22 Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” 23 And when Jesus got into the boat, the disciples followed him. 24 and now, a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves, but He was asleep. 25 The disciples came and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us, we are perishing!” 26 He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was complete calm. 27 The people were amazed and said, “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?” 28 And when he crossed to the other side, to the land of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass along that road. 29 and now, they cried out and said, “What is there between you and us, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” 30 And far from them there was a large herd of pigs, which was grazing. 31 And the demons were begging him and saying, “If you drive us out, allow us to go into that herd of pigs.” 32 He said to them, “Go.” And they came out and entered the herd of pigs. and now, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters. 33 But the swineherds fled, and going into the city, they reported everything, including the account of the demon-possessed men. 34 and now, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
