And Jesus said to him: “Be careful not to tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest, and present the offering commanded by Moses, as a testimony to them.”
In this passage, after the healing Jesus instructs the leper not to disclose his healing to others, but first to show himself to the priest. At that time the priests confirmed whether a person had been healed of leprosy and allowed him to return to society. Jesus calls him to do what the law required: to go to the priest and to offer a gift according to the Law of Moses as a sign of cleansing. This command had two purposes: one was to confirm the healing according to the law and restore the leper within society, and the other was to show the priests the divine power of Jesus.
