Matthew 8:1

When Jesus came down from the mountain, a great crowd followed him.

This verse shows the immediate impact of Jesus’ teaching on the people after the Sermon on the Mount. The words spoken on the mountain not only produced amazement, but also gave rise to trust and an inner attraction, as a result of which people began to walk after Him. The phrase “He came down from the mountain” symbolizes the transition from teaching to practical ministry, and “a great multitude” testifies that His word found an echo in the hearts of different people. With this image, the Gospel shows that true teaching does not remain merely a heard word, but moves people toward action, following, and living fellowship with Christ.
