Jesus took her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve them.
In this passage Jesus heals Peter’s mother-in-law simply by taking her by the hand. Instantly the fever leaves her, and she gets up, returning to her normal condition with no signs of weakness. After being healed, she immediately begins to serve Jesus and those who were in the house. This episode not only shows Jesus’ power to heal, but also how a healed person returns to their responsibilities and serves Jesus. Jesus shows that God’s power not only heals physical illnesses, but also restores people, giving them the ability to live and serve actively.
