Psalm 16 — A Prayer of Trust

1 Keep me safe, O God, for I take refuge in You. 2 I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord. apart from You I have no good thing.” 3 The saints and the noble ones who are on the earth are all my delight. 4 Their sorrows will multiply, those who hurry after another god. I will not offer their blood offerings, and I will not take their names upon my lips. 5 The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup. You surely keep my portion. 6 A desirable portion fell to me, and this inheritance is pleasing to me. 7 I will bless the Lord, who instructs me. Even in the nights my inner being teaches me. 8 I have set the Lord before me at all times, because He is at my right hand. I will not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my soul exulted. My body also will dwell in safety. 10 For You will not leave my soul in the grave, and You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life. In Your presence there is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are delights forever.
