For the avenger of blood remembers them and does not forget the cry of the poor.
Here God is presented as the Judge who renders righteous judgment for innocent blood. He sees violence, hears the cry of the suffering, and does not forget the injustice that has been done. The expression “remembers” does not mean merely keeping something in mind, but shows that God intervenes in His time and executes righteous judgment. People may ignore the voice of the poor, conceal the crime, or forget the victim’s pain, but nothing remains hidden before the Lord. This word comforts those whose grief is not noticed or is not given proper attention. At the same time, it is a stern warning to those who commit violence, because no innocent blood goes unanswered. From this verse the believer learns both to trust God’s justice and not to remain indifferent toward those who suffer. If we glorify the God who hears the cry of the poor, then we ourselves must not remain indifferent to their pain and need. The Church is called to defend human dignity, to comfort the oppressed, and to seek justice without personal vengeance.
