O Lord, our Lord, how glorious is Your name in all the earth. You have lifted up Your glory even above the heavens.
The psalm opens with worship. God’s name presents His revealed character, power, and authority. His glory is seen over the whole earth, yet it is not limited to creation; it is exalted even above the heavens. David calls God “our Lord,” uniting His universal rule with the personal relationship He has with His people. Creation invites a person not only to admire nature, but to know the Creator. The heavens, the earth, and the order of life testify to His wisdom. For the believer, this word is a call to begin the day remembering God’s greatness. Our difficulties may seem great, but they cannot surpass His glory. Whoever knows the Lord’s name learns to humble himself, to trust, and to worship Him with his whole heart.
