Psalm 7:11

God is a righteous Judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

God’s righteous judgment is a constant reality. He does not notice evil only at certain moments, but always sees and judges sin and injustice. The word “is angry” here does not describe a changeable mood or uncontrolled rage. God’s wrath is His holy and steadfast opposition to everything that violates His righteous order and destroys the good He created. This comforts those who suffer from injustice, because the Lord is not an indifferent observer. At the same time, this word is a serious warning for the person who persists in sin. The fact that God does not punish immediately does not mean that He approves of evil. In His patience He gives time for repentance, yet He never considers sin righteous and never calls evil good. In the crucifixion of Christ, God’s righteous judgment and His saving love are revealed at the same time. Sin is so serious that only the sacrifice of Christ could atone for it, and God’s mercy is so great that this saving sacrifice was given for sinners.
