Salvation is from the Lord. Let Your blessing be upon Your people.
The psalm ends with a confession of great faith. Salvation does not come from the number of people, from military strength, or from human wisdom. It belongs to the Lord and flows from His grace. David was in danger, yet he already speaks with firm confidence in salvation. He also moves beyond only his personal need and prays for the whole people. Even though part of the people had rebelled against him, he still desires God’s blessing upon them. This shows the heart of a spiritual leader, who, even when wounded, does not forget the well-being of others. The believer’s prayer also should not be limited only to personal problems. God’s grace gives us a broad heart, to intercede for the church and for the people. The words “Salvation is from the Lord” are the foundation of the whole Gospel. A person does not save himself. By faith he receives the deliverance that God grants by His mercy.
