“But I have established My King on My holy mountain Zion.”
God answers the rebellion of the nations by confirming His decree. People try to reject His Anointed, yet the Lord says that He has already established His King. Zion was historically the holy mountain of Jerusalem and the center of David’s kingdom. It became a symbol of God’s presence and royal authority. In the psalm’s messianic sense, this word reaches its full fulfillment in Christ. His kingdom is not founded on human choice or military power, but on the Father’s confirmation. Christ’s crucifixion seemed like defeat, but His resurrection and ascension revealed His unshakable authority. From this verse the believer learns that God’s plan does not depend on human approval. Christ is King even when the world rejects Him. Therefore His people are called to obey Him faithfully and to trust in His eternal kingdom.
