As they were going out, now, they brought to him a mute man who was demon-possessed.
This verse presents the next episode of Christ’s ministry, showing that the chain of human needs is not interrupted, and that each new encounter opens a possibility for deliverance. The “mute demoniac” highlights the depth of a person’s condition, when the influence of an evil spirit not only causes suffering, but also takes away speech—the means of human communication and testimony.
