Look at the birds of the sky: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they are?
Here Jesus shows how God cares for all the creatures He has made, in this case, the birds. The birds do not sow, do not reap, and do not gather food into barns, yet they still have everything necessary to live, because God feeds them. With this example Jesus wants to say that if God is so caring toward the birds, which are small and passing creatures, then how much more does He care for people, who are far more valuable in His sight. Therefore, people do not need to be constantly anxious about their material needs—food, drink, clothing—because God knows about them and will provide them. That is, if a person is focused on God, then God will take care of his needs; but if a person’s mind is occupied and focused on material values, then the person voluntarily separates himself from God.
