Matthew 26:57

And those who arrested Jesus led him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered.

This statement describes the first judicial stage that took place after Jesus’ arrest. They lead Him to Caiaphas’ house, where the scribes and elders had already gathered, prepared beforehand by their evil counsel. This scene shows that the trial was arranged not out of justice, but driven by envy and revenge. The house of Caiaphas, which should have been the dwelling of a guardian of the Law, had become a place of lawlessness; there, where truth should have been honored, now He Himself is put on trial—the living Christ. This moment bears witness to the extreme manifestation of human injustice: when spiritual authority loses its purpose of service, it is turned into an instrument of condemnation. Yet Jesus remains silent, because within His silence the divine justice speaks.
