Get up, let us go. Look, the one who is going to betray me has arrived.”
These words are a sign of the end of the Gethsemane prayer and the beginning of the saving events. Christ is already at peace, ready to meet what is to come. The words, “Rise, let us go from here,” show not flight, but resolve: He Himself goes toward His arrest. The strength received through prayer makes Him master of the situation; what to the human eye seems like submission is in fact victory. With the words, “Behold, the one who will betray me has arrived,” Jesus accepts reality without fear or bitterness. In His voice there is no anger, but a deep faith that everything is happening according to divine providence. Here the power of Christ is revealed—not through force, but through obedient love. He goes to the cross not by compulsion, but with conscious self-offering. The words, “Let us go from here,” are also a call to the disciples to be ready for the coming trial and to face it with faith and steadfastness.
