Then Jesus came with them to a garden called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray.”
This statement marks the beginning of the path of Jesus’ suffering. The Garden of Gethsemane, located at the foot of the Mount of Olives, becomes the place of the Lord’s inner struggle and prayer. Here Christ enters into the deepest solitude, preparing for the true sacrifice of the cross. The words, “Sit here until I go and pray,” show that He leaves the disciples near Him, but not within the same trial; the way of prayer was His portion alone. At this moment Jesus stands at the boundary between human weakness and divine obedience, as an example for all believers that in every trial, strength comes from prayer.
