But after I am raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”
In these words, after the warning, Jesus immediately gives comfort to the disciples, speaking prophetically about His resurrection. If in the previous saying He spoke of scattering and trial, now He announces restoration and a new unity. The words “I will go to Galilee” are not only a geographical direction, but a deep symbol: Galilee was the place where the Lord’s ministry began, the first calling, and the first steps of faith. Here Jesus promises that in the same place—where everything began—He will meet them again, this time in the glory of the risen One. That meeting symbolizes not only the disciples’ reconciliation with the Lord, but also the beginning of the New Covenant. These words reveal that the cross is not the end of the road, but an entrance into new life, where fear is changed into hope, and the scattered flock into one holy family—the Church.
