Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find doing so.
In these two verses (Matt. 45, 46) Jesus first asks a question, and then He Himself gives its answer, revealing the true meaning of faithfulness. The question, “Who is the faithful and wise servant,” is an invitation for each person to examine himself: is he the servant to whom the Lord can entrust responsibility and service? This question is directed not only to spiritual leaders, but to all believers who are called to distribute spiritual food in their surroundings through works of love, faith, and humility. Jesus’ answer, “Blessed is that servant...,” shows that the Lord values not only the one who waits, but the one who waits faithfully in action. The faithful servant is the one who carries out his duty even when his master is not present. He works by faith, trusting that the Lord will come and reveal his reward. These words emphasize two sides of waiting: wisdom, which knows what to do, and faithfulness, which does it without ceasing. Christ’s question and answer in fact shape the measure of the believer’s life: to live in such a way that if the Lord came today, He would find us doing the work He has entrusted to us.
