Therefore stay awake, because you do not know at what hour your Lord will come.
With these words Jesus sums up the previous warnings, giving the main message: to remain in spiritual wakefulness. He calls us to be continually ready, not with fear, but with a watchful heart. “Staying awake” here does not mean not sleeping physically, but not falling into spiritual indifference or the numbness of sin. This call reminds us that the believer’s life is a path of waiting and faithfulness. He must always be ready to meet the Lord, in every moment and in every situation. Jesus does not want a person to guess the hours and the times, but to live with such faith that if the Lord came even today, He would find him ready and with a peaceful heart.
