Matthew 24:23

At that time, if someone tells you, “Look, Christ is here,” or “There,” do not believe it.

Jesus warns His disciples about future deceptions that will arise during the time of great tribulation. In those days people will try to present false Christs to others. This warning shows that true faith is not based on outward signs or on people’s words, but on inner discernment within the presence of God. Christ teaches that when the world is full of fear and disasters, people tend to look for hypocritical saviors, but the believer must remain watchful and steadfast, not be deceived by outward glory or by spectacles of miracles. Indeed, this word continues to remain relevant in all times, when various voices try to present themselves as true paths. It is important to understand that Christ will not appear with worldly glory, but His appearing will be recognized only in those hearts that receive Him by faith. And thus, Jesus’ message is: “do not believe,” if the soul does not recognize the presence of love, peace, and truth.
