Matthew 24:18

and the one who is in the field must not turn back to take his clothes.

Jesus continues the same warning word, emphasizing the urgent nature of salvation. “The one who is in the field” symbolizes the person who is occupied with the affairs of life, but when God’s call comes, he must leave everything and not return to the past. The garment here symbolizes worldly ties and the sense of possession—everything a person lets go of with difficulty. Christ teaches that when salvation calls, even the most natural things must be left behind without hesitation. This word is like the story of Lot’s wife, who became a pillar of salt because she looked back toward the world she had left (Gen. 19:26). Truly, this is a warning to believers of all times: when God’s call sounds, do not return to the garments of the past, which can no longer cover the soul.
