And many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray.
Jesus also warns about a great danger: the appearance of false prophets. These people will not act with open evil, but will try to present themselves with the appearance of truth, deceiving those who are not ready to test the spirits. Their speech may be charming, with promises of peace and well-being, but their real aim will be to draw people away from the word of God. False prophets arise when faith grows weak and people begin to seek a more convenient “truth,” one that fits their desires. Indeed, every age has had false prophets, and today as well this continues to happen, when deception hides under a veil of truth.
