Matthew 2:14

Joseph arose, took the Child and His mother by night, and departed into Egypt.

This verse testifies to Joseph’s immediate and complete obedience to the command of God. He did not wait for daybreak or for circumstances to become clear, but by night—without hesitation—he took the Child and Mary and departed into Egypt. Joseph’s swift response shows the active nature of his faith: he not only heard, but also immediately obeyed. This episode also symbolizes that the will of God often requires swift and decisive steps, even under conditions of uncertainty. The night flight, which seemed dangerous, in reality became the way of the Savior’s preservation.
