When Jesus finished these words, he left Galilee and came to the borders of Judea, on the other side of the Jordan.
This verse marks another movement in Jesus’ ministry, by which the period of preaching He carried out in Galilee comes to an end. By “these words” He means the teachings given in chapter 18, about forgiveness, brotherly love, and community discipline. Now He moves to the other side of the Jordan River, which shows that He is entering Perea, the region on the eastern side of Judea, bringing His journey closer to Jerusalem and to the crucifixion.
