For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father, with his angels, and then he will repay each person according to his deeds.
In this verse Jesus reveals the majestic and judgment-bearing nature of His second coming. He says that the Son of Man—He Himself—will come not in a humble and suffering manner as the first time, but with the Father’s glory and with the power of the angels, as Judge. Then all people will stand before Him, and each one will be given recompense according to his deeds. This testifies to God’s justice: salvation is by grace, but judgment is according to works. This word is also a strong warning, reminding us that God continually sees a person’s course of life, and in the end there is true and unavoidable recompense.
