And Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.”
Jesus blesses Peter for his pure confession of faith, but at the same time he shows that this understanding did not come from human reasoning or sensory knowledge (“flesh and blood”), but from God’s higher revelation. This confirms that true faith and the recognition of Jesus’ Messiahship are born not from the mind’s analysis, but from spiritual wisdom given by God.
