After sending the crowd away, Jesus got into the boat and came to the region of Magdala.
This verse summarizes the concluding event of this chapter: after feeding the people, Jesus dismisses the crowd in peace and satisfaction, gets into the boat again, and goes toward Magdala (or Magadan). Magdala (or Magadan) was a village on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, also regarded as the hometown of Mary Magdalene. This shows that Jesus continued to travel and minister in different places without stopping, not limiting himself to only one region. This verse also testifies that Jesus’ ministry has movement, ongoing connection, and a constant mission: he does not remain long in one place, but goes where the people still have need to hear, to be healed, and to be saved. In this way, every step of Jesus’ earthly ministry has a purpose: it is not only a series of miracles, but also an important mission to prepare the way for the salvation of souls.
