Matthew 14:28

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water”.

Peter’s response speaks both of faith and of human caution. He does not doubt Jesus’ power, but wants to be sure that it truly is Jesus. His request, “command me,” shows a readiness to obey. Peter knows that if it is the Lord’s will, then the impossible becomes possible. This verse also testifies to the courage of faith: Peter does not wait for Jesus to come to the boat, but wants to go to Him himself. That is dangerous from a human perspective, but from the perspective of faith, this is precisely progress—to walk toward the Lord, even if the path is dangerous.
