And when evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is deserted, and the time has already passed. Send the crowds away, so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves”.
The disciples were attentive to the people’s needs, but their only solution—to send the people to the villages to buy food—shows the limited nature of human thinking. They see that the place is secluded, the day is nearly over, and the crowd is hungry. Yet they still have not fully realized who is with them. They act by natural reasoning, not from the perspective of faith. They propose a solution based on human ability, not on God’s power.
