And Jesus went on from there and came into their synagogue.
This statement simply describes Jesus’ next step. He leaves the fields, where the discussion about the Sabbath day took place, and goes to the synagogue. The synagogue was the place where the Jews gathered for worship, teaching, and the study of the Law. Jesus often visited synagogues in order to teach and to heal. This step prepares for the next passage, where Jesus will continue to show how the Law’s true meaning should be applied with a caring approach.
