Jesus warns the people who have seen and received His healings not to make His person and miracles known to the public. He did not want to give great publicity to His miracles, in order to avoid excessive attention that could hinder the true purpose of His mission or distract people from the main meaning of His teaching. Jesus intended that people, first of all, would accept the spiritual meaning of His teaching and the depth of their relationship with God. His caution was also aimed at protecting Himself from persecution before His time, so that He could continue His mission and teach for as long as God had planned.
