Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
In this saying, Jesus invites all who are weary, psychologically burdened, and weighed down with sufferings to come to Him and to find true rest and peace. Jesus promises to free them from their burdens, offering a kind of spiritual rest that is possible only in God’s presence and love. Jesus’ words, expressed in the phrase “I will give you rest,” carry deep meaning: He offers deliverance from spiritual heaviness and anxiety, which often arise because of sin, unbelief, or the hardships of life. The spiritual rest Jesus promises does not mean merely physical rest, but the peace of the soul, which is the result of a relationship with Him. His nearness and support bring a kind of rest that the world, on its own, can never give.
