Joseph, when he awoke from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took his wife to himself.
This verse testifies to Joseph’s obedience and trust: he not only believed the Lord’s word, but also immediately put it into practice without hesitation. Joseph’s faith was manifested in action: he took Mary as his wife, being confident that the divine plan was being fulfilled. His obedience became an example for the believer’s life: he showed that true faith rises above human fears and that a person’s will must be wholly submitted to God’s will.
