And suddenly, looking around them, they saw no one with them anymore except Jesus.
This verse sums up the deep purpose of the vision. Moses and Elijah depart, and Jesus remains. This shows that every prophetic testimony ultimately leads to Christ and finds its fulfillment in Him. The Law and the prophets do not disappear as witnesses to the truth, but yield their place to Him of whom they were speaking. For the disciples this was an important lesson: when all secondary great figures depart, only Jesus remains at the center of faith. The same is true for the believer’s life: out of confusion, fear, and trials, in the end only the Lord must be seen clearly.
