Jesus said to him, “You said, ‘If You can.’ Everything is possible for the one who believes.”
The Lord brings the father’s word into the realm of faith. The issue is not in Christ’s ability, but in a person’s faith. The saying, “All things are possible for the one who believes,” does not mean that a person will receive everything he desires by the power of his own faith, according to his whim. The meaning here is that faith does not make a person independently powerful, but opens him before God’s power. Faith is the hand by which the soul receives the divine gift. This is also a call to every believer not to measure the problem by its heaviness, but to look to God’s omnipotence.
