And they brought him to Jesus. When the spirit saw Him, it immediately convulsed the boy. And he fell to the ground and began to roll around and foam.
The evil spirit, sensing Christ’s authority, manifests itself more violently. This often happens in spiritual warfare: when deliverance is drawing near, the adversary acts more fiercely with his last strength. But that fury is not a sign of victory, but proof of an approaching defeat. The worsening of the boy’s condition does not mean that Christ’s presence was in vain, but that the evil spirit is forced, with one last convulsion, to reveal its tyranny. This also teaches us that when a person comes to the Lord, the trial sometimes intensifies for a moment, which does not mean that the Lord is far away. On the contrary, it is His very presence that exposes and breaks the power of darkness.
