This brief addition again reveals the same truth: before God nothing is insignificant. The small fish might have seemed trivial in people’s eyes, yet Christ blesses them as well and uses them, showing that what is decisive is not the size of what one has, but that it passes through the Lord’s blessing. As with the loaves, so also the fish, by His blessing, become sufficient for many. This is an important teaching for the believer: a person often considers what he has to be small, but God can make it useful and fruitful when it is entrusted to Him with confidence and faith. Thus the Lord shows that in His kingdom what is decisive is not quantity, but blessing, and what is blessed by Him serves for people’s well-being.
