And leaving them, He again got into the boat and went to the other side of the lake.
This verse is outwardly a simple transition, yet it carries deep spiritual meaning. Christ departs from those who stubbornly reject His presence, showing that divine grace, though abundant, does not remain in the face of unresponded rejection. When a person closes himself off before the truth, a moment may come when the Lord leaves him in the path he has chosen. There is no cruelty here, but righteous judgment. The Pharisees were not ready to accept, and so Christ does not continue the fruitless dispute. This is also a lesson that serving God does not mean remaining endlessly where people’s hearts are closed. There are times when leaving in silence speaks more loudly than a long argument. This verse also warns that when He is near and speaking, one must listen, because a moment may come when, as a result of that rejection, He becomes silent and departs.
