Then He got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were exceedingly amazed within themselves and were stunned with astonishment.
When Christ enters the boat, the wind stops. This shows that His presence brings peace not only within the soul, but also over the situation. He is the same Lord who rules over nature. The disciples are exceedingly amazed, because they were continuing to come to know, step by step, the depth of their Teacher’s person. They had seen much, yet every new manifestation brought them more into awareness of His Essence. This amazement is natural, because they were standing before not merely a holy man, but before the adopted presence of the Creator, for whom the sea and the wind were obedient servants.
